Health and Safety

The Departments of Student Support Services, Custodial

Services and Security & Emergency Management work
together to ensure students and staff feel safe each and
every day. This school year, the GPISD administration team
has relied heavily on guidance from national and local
health and safety organizations to ensure the health and
safety of our students and staff remain the District’s top
priority.

Galena Park I.S.D. has always provided
the safest and most sanitary learning
environments possible, but this year, those

efforts have been multiplied. Extra steps
have been added to daily cleaning
routines to ensure every classroom and
hallway are properly sanitized. These extra
steps include:
• Additional custodial staff;
• Custodians work extra time
each day to sanitize; and
• State-of-the art cleaning

equipment has been added,
including EMist machines,
CO-CURRICULAR EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACADEMIC Ultraviolet lights and

backpack sprayers.
