G alena Park I.S.D. congratulates Ms. Jeanette Garza and Ms. Elizabeth Guevara for
being named the GPISD Rookie Teachers of the Year!
Ms. Garza is a bilingual teacher at Tice Elementary School, and Ms. Guevara is a social studies
teacher at Galena Park Middle School.
Way to go, Ms. Garza and Ms. Guevara!
Congratulations also to Ms. Amalia Torres and Mr. Christopher Ybarra for being named the
2022 GPISD Teachers of the Year.
Ms. Torres has been an educator in GPISD for 18 years and is currently a 3 Grade Math

teacher at Cloverleaf Elementary School.
Mr. Ybarra has been educator in GPISD for 14 years and serves as the Behavioral Specialist at
North Shore 10 Grade Center.
