Just as a conductor keeps time to make sure all musicians are hitting the right
notes, GPISD’s Business Services Department is well-known for its ability to ensure

the District stays on track by consistently balancing budgets and maintaining
healthy reserves, despite facing tough economic conditions. The financial
management team’s hard work has not gone unrecognized: in May 2023, GPISD

earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of
School Business Officials, and in August 2023, the District received notification of an
A-Superior rating for the 2023 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) from
the Texas Education Agency. Our award-winning business services have enabled
the District to invest in new educational programs, technology, and infrastructure

while keeping taxes low. These efforts have not only saved the District money,
but they have also improved the quality of services provided to students and
enabled the Board of Trustees to approve a 3% across the board raise for all District

employees along with an increased contribution on insurance premiums. Overall,
GPISD’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and excellence in business service has
resulted in better educational outcomes and a strong reputation in the community.
