SCHOOL PRIORITY MONTH








                  alena Park ISD celebrated School Priority Month during the month of October! School Priority
                  Month is a campaign to promote schools district and foster relationships with elected officials
                  and community leaders. Recognized as a statewide event, GPISD joined public schools across
     Gthe state of Texas and opened its doors to leaders of every kind- from congressmen, senators,
      state representatives, judges, constables and ministers- to attend district events and visit with students
      and administrators.

                                                                 Throughout the month of October, GPISD focused on
                                                                 recognizing and rewarding excellence, communicating
                                                                 what’s important in education and highlighting community
                                                                 engagements.



                                                                                  e kicked off School Priority Month by inviting
                                                                                  elected officials, community leaders and the
                                                                                  GPISD Board of Trustees to the dedication
                                                                 Wceremony and ribbon cutting ceremonies for
                                                                 North Shore Elementary (NSE), North Shore 10  Grade Center
                                                                                                                                th
                                                                 (NS10), Woodland Acres Elementary (WAES) and Galena Park
                                                                 Elementary (GPE).

                                                                 At the NS10 ceremony, Congressman Gene Green presented
                                                                 Principal Kenneth Bryant with a plaque in recognition of the
                                                                 dedication and an American flag which flew over the United
                                                                 States Capitol on May 28 to be displayed on campus.

                                                                 Woodland Acres Elementary principal, Mrs. Sandra Rodriguez,
                                                                 received a proclamation from Congressman Gene Green’s
                                                                 office, and Senator Sylvia Garcia presented a Texas Flag which
                                                                 flew over the Texas State Capitol.

                                                                 A representative from Ana Hernandez’s office presented
                                                                 Galena Park Elementary principal, Mr. Jaime Rocha, with a
                                                                 certificate of recognition from the House of Representatives. A
                                                                 representative from Sheila Jackson Lee’s office presented an
                                                                 American flag which was flown over the United State Capitol
                                                                 and Senator Sylvia Garcia presented a Texas flag flown over
                                                                 the Texas State Capitol.

                                                                 We would like to thank Representative Hernandez, Senator
                                                                 Garcia, Congressman Green, Judge Joe Stephens and the
                                                                 GPISD Board of Trustees for taking part in the dedication
                                                                 ceremonies.
