Welcome to the 2021-2022
School Year in Galena Park ISD
As we begin a new school year, we have yet another opportunity to
demonstrate excellence in all areas and remain a performance leader
in the great State of Texas. Whether it’s in the area of academics,
athletics, fine arts or any other area involving our outstanding students
and staff, Galena Park ISD welcomes the opportunity to show the world
the greatness that has become a trademark of our district.
Dr. John Moore
Superintendent of Schools
Please allow me this opportunity to remind everyone of Galena Park
ISD’s mission to “prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.” We
take this mission very seriously, and every decision is rooted in the responsibility entrusted to us
by each of our stakeholders. Thank you, parents and family members, for your support as we
work together to educate your child(ren). Know that every employee of Galena Park ISD is
committed to your child(ren)’s success, and we will strive each day to help every child fulfill his/
her potential.
As we return to a new and exciting school year, we will continue practicing good hygiene
habits reinforced by our recent experiences. The precautionary health measures we adopt as
individuals may vary, depending on our unique circumstances. Ultimately, being considerate,
respectful and kind to those around us is the best thing we can do to ensure each other’s
health and well-being.
Sincerely,
Dr. John C. Moore, Jr.
Superintendent of Schools
Getting To Know Your Board of Trustees
The Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees focuses their full attention on the success of all students in
the District. It is this commitment to a common goal that unites each individual Trustee and the
Superintendent of Schools into a cohesive team, the Team of Eight.
At the June 14 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board elected new officers for the 2021-2022
th
school year. Mr. Jeff Miller was elected as the Board President for the 2021-2022 school year. Mr.
Miller has been a board member since 1997, and is the longest-serving board member. He has
served as the Board’s Vice President for the last two years.
Mrs. Adrian Stephens was elected to serve as the Board Vice President, and Mr. Noe Esparza was
chosen to serve as the Board Secretary for the upcoming school year.
We would like to thank Mr. Ramon
Garza for his service as Board
President during the 2019-2020
and 2020-2021 school years. His
outstanding service, leadership and
commitment to the GPISD school
community were invaluable to the
success of our students and staff. Jeff Miller Adrian Stephens Noe Esparza
