Trustees Take Oath of Office

At the June 12 Galena Park ISD (GPISD) Board of Trustees

meeting, incumbent Noe Esparza (Position 6), Norma Hernandez
(Position 7), and Jose Jimenez (Position 5) were sworn into office
by Judge Joe Stephens to serve on the GPISD Board of Trustees
following the May 6 election. Mrs. Janie Jimenez assisted with
th
the installation of Mr. Jimenez.

Mr. Esparza has been a GPISD trustee since 2019. He is a proud Noe Esparza
1988 graduate of Galena Park High School. Mr. Esparza is Board of Trustees Position 6
married and the proud father of two sons, who are also GPISD
graduates.

Mrs. Hernandez has been a GPISD trustee since 2019. Mrs.
Hernandez is a retired Galena Park ISD educator who served
the students, staff, and community for 38 years. She is married
and a proud mother of two daughters, who are GPISD
graduates.
Norma Hernandez
Mr. Jimenez is a local business owner. He received his Bachelor’s Board of Trustees Position 7
degree in business administration from the University of Houston.
Mr. Jimenez is married and has two children: a son who attends
high school and a daughter who is a 2023 GPISD graduate.

Dr. John Moore, Superintendent of Schools, congratulated Mr.
Esparza, Mrs. Hernandez, and Mr. Jimenez by sharing, “GPISD
is fortunate to have Trustees who are truly connected to the
community and committed to the District’s growth and support.

New 2023-2024 Officers Elected

The Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees works collaboratively to make sound decisions that
will impact students, teachers, and the community. As a Team of Eight, their cohesion and
commitment to the district’s mission and goals are keys to success.

At the June 12 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board elected new officers for the 2023-2024

school year and recognized them in
their new roles. Mr. Noe Esparza was
elected as the Board President, and
previously served as the Board’s Vice
President. Mrs. Norma Hernandez
was elected to serve as the Board
Vice President, and Mr. Ramon Garza
was chosen to serve as the Board
