Trustees Take Oath of Office
t the June 10 Galena Park ISD (GPISD) Board of Trustees
th
meeting, incumbent Adrian Stephens (Position 1) and
Arecently elected Amanda Erebia (Position 2) were sworn
into office by Judge Stephens to serve on the GPISD Board
of Trustees following the May 4th election. Board of Trustees
Secretary Elizabeth Valdez assisted with the installation of Adrian
Stephens, and Pastor Rob Morris assisted with the installation of
Amanda Erebia.

Board of Trustees Position 1
Adrian Stephens has served as a GPISD trustee since 2018. She is
a proud graduate of Prairie View A&M University. She is married
and a mother to three children. Adrian Stephens encourages
students to “explore the limitless possibilities to innovate and
exercise creativity.”
Amanda Erebia is a North Shore High School and San Jacinto
College graduate. She is married and a proud mother to
four children. Amanda Erebia is an active Galena Park ISD Amanda Erebia
community member and is “excited to be a voice for the Board of Trustees Position 2
community and a good steward of taxpayer funds.”
Dr. John Moore, Superintendent of Schools, punctuated the oath ceremony by stating, “Today
marks a significant milestone for our District as our 2024-2025 trustees take their oath of office. This
ceremony is not just a formality but a profound commitment to uphold the values and mission of
our educational community. Each trustee brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and shared
vision for the success and well-being of our students. I am confident their leadership will guide
us toward a brighter future. Congratulations to our trustees, and thank you for your unwavering
service to the District.”
2024-2025 Officers Elected
he Superintendent and the Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees function as a “Team of Eight.”
The Board is responsible for creating policy for the District, adopting the budget, and setting
Tgoals and priorities. It is the responsibility of the Superintendent and staff to lead the District
and ensure the board-adopted policies are implemented.
At the June 10 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board elected new officers for the 2024-2025

school year and recognized them
in their new roles. Norma Hernandez
was elected as the Board President
and previously served as the Board’s
Vice President. Ramon Garza was
elected to serve as the Board Vice
President, and Linda Clark Sherrard
was chosen to serve as the Board
Secretary for the upcoming school
