Trustees Answer Call To Action
At the December Galena Park I.S.D. (GPISD) Board of Trustees
meeting, Herbert Alexander Sanchez, Noe Esparza and
Norma Hernandez were sworn in by Judge Joe Stephens to
fill Position 5, Position 6 and Position 7 of the GPISD Board of
Trustees.
Herbert Alexander Sanchez was elected during the
November 2020 election to serve in Position 5 of the GPISD
Board of Trustees. Mr. Sanchez earned a Master’s Degree in
Public Administration from Sam Houston State University and
Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Texas
Southern University. Together with his wife, Veronica, they
have three children who attend GPISD schools.
Noe Esparza was originally appointed to fill Position 6 of the
unexpired term of Ms. Minnie Rivera. Mr. Esparza will now
serve as Board of Trustee in Position 6 for a three-year term.
He is a Galena Park High School graduate and is currently
the Regional Director at Donaldson Company. Mr. Esparza is Herbert Alexander Sanchez
married, and is the proud father of two sons, both of whom Position 5
have graduated from GPISD schools.
In 2019, Norma Hernandez was appointed to fill Position 7 upon the passing of long-time Board
member, Dawn Fisher. Mrs. Hernandez ran unopposed during the November 2020 election and
will serve as Board of Trustee in Position 7 for a three-year term. She is a graduate of the University
of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and Texas Southern University. Mrs. Hernandez is a former teacher
and registrar, having served 38 years at Galena Park High School until her retirement in 2017. She
is married, and her two daughters are graduates of Galena Park High School.
Galena Park I.S.D is looking forward to working with our new trustee, Mr. Sanchez, and continued
service from Mrs. Hernandez and Mr. Esparza.
