Student Authors Honored
On November 14, Houston nonprofit, iWRITE Literacy
Organization, honored student authors and illustrators across the
state of Texas at the 11 Annual Virtual iWRITE Luncheon & Book
th
Signing of I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids.
iWRITE offers students in
grades 3 through 12 the
opportunity to submit short
stories, poems and artwork to
an annual publishing contest.
Each year, 65 winners are
selected to be published in an anthology and are invited to
a book signing celebration to honor them for their hard work.
This event helps raise awareness for children’s literacy and
inspires kids to write their own stories. Due to COVID-19, iWRITE
hosted a virtual celebration with a special guest appearance
A’Myracle Green and exciting presentations from newly published student-
and iWRITE Representative authors.
Jaley Mitchell and Christovia Johnson (not available for
photo), North Shore Senior High School students; and
A’Myracle Green, Purple Sage Elementary student were
honored during the virtual book signing as published student-
authors in the 11 anthology, I Write Short Stories by Kids for
th
Kids.
Congratulations to these three GPISD students who are now
published authors! Keep up the great work!
