Facilities Improvement
In 2014, the Board approved a district facilities
assessment of projected student attendance and campus
capacity, which identified ten campuses which would
be at capacity and seven campuses which would exceed
capacity by the year 2023. The District called a bond
election with a $290 million proposal, including the
following specific purposes:
• Rebuild six elementary campuses
• Build a 10th Grade Center on the north side of
the district
• Renovate and upgrade all other campuses
• Acquire land for future facilities opportunities
The Galena Park ISD community approved a $290 million bond package in May, 2016. The bond passed
by 73 percent; the District has broken ground
on new facilities and begun renovations to
accommodate growth through the year 2020.
