9.3 EVIDENCE OF EFFORTS TO OBTAIN COMMUNITY INPUT AND ENGAGEMENT IN DECISION
MAKING
The Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees takes pride in maintaining a high level of community
involvement. The District conducts multiple meetings per year with various stakeholders including
students, community members, and retired educators. The Board is committed to providing an avenue for
every member of the community to be included in the District’s decision-making process.
Evidence of ongoing efforts to obtain community input and/or involve community members in decision
making include the following:

Board trustees value the input of all stakeholders
and realize the importance of facilitating meaningful
two-way communication with their constituents. To
this end, trustees have prioritized the provision of
a variety of up-to-date communication channels to
engage the community. Individuals can offer
input through email, Twitter, and Facebook.
District Needs Assessment
Once the Board establishes goals for the year,
district administrators facilitate the district
needs assessment. Student, teacher, and
community feedback is solicited through formal
and informal surveys through various methods,
