              A Community’s Legacy

Galena Park ISD’s (GPISD) community partnerships and district groups are pivotal in fostering a
legacy of excellence in education. These positive collaborations enhance educational programs,
enrich student experiences, and strengthen community ties. Our Community Leadership Council
(CLC) is a crucial school-community partnership that engages business and community leaders
with the District’s leadership team. As active and respected community leaders, they provide
invaluable insight and feedback that lends to our legacy of excellence and service.
This commitment to excellence extends beyond current leadership to include the wisdom of those
who have dedicated their careers to education. The insight GPISD gains from hosting its retired
educators and the North East Harris County Retired Educators Association is essential for student
support and teacher development. We value the experience, wisdom, and leadership of retired
educators as they are a reminder of the legacy of GPISD excellence. Such insight often leads to
professional development opportunities for teachers and staff, which is essential for maintaining
high teaching standards. Similarly, the District’s Teacher Leadership Council (TLC) includes our
Teachers of the Year. This group of influential educators meets regularly to remain abreast of the
teaching trends and issues while being the voice of all teachers by sharing suggestions, insight,
and feedback from their peers with district administrators. TLC members also discuss innovative
strategies and share best practices that directly impact student learning. At their cores, the
North East Harris County Retired Educators Association and TLC embody a continued legacy of
excellence that includes teachers teaching, helping, and learning from each other.
