09 PUBLIC RELATIONS EFFORTS, INCLUDING COMMUNITY AWARENESS

9.3 EVIDENCE OF EFFORTS TO OBTAIN COMMUNITY INPUT AND ENGAGEMENT IN DECISION
MAKING

The GPISD Board of Trustees actively works to achieve its goals by collaborating with
various stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and community members� Through these
partnerships, board members can gather a wide range of perspectives, which helps them
make decisions that reflect the needs of our unique community�

Additionally, trustees take pride in maintaining a high level of community involvement in
ongoing District operations and planning� Multiple meetings are conducted each year with
various stakeholders including students, community members, and retired educators� The
Board is committed to providing a place for every member of the community to be included
in the District’s decision-making process�

District Planning and Advisory Committee
The Board recognizes the importance of soliciting stakeholder input into the decision making
process� One important avenue for input is the District Planning and Advisory Committee
which is composed of parents, campus, and district level staff, and business and community
members� This committee meets regularly to review and revise the District’s goals for
improvement and to develop the school calendar each year�

Social Media/District E-mail
Board trustees value the input of all stakeholders and realize the importance of meeting
their constituents where they are� As such, they have placed an emphasis upon providing a
variety of up-to-date avenues to engage the community� Individuals can offer input through
email, Twitter, and Facebook�
