New School Year Information




      Dress Code and School Supplies
      Galena Park I.S.D. will suspend requirements for standardized dress code for ALL elementary and
      middle school students for the 2020-2021 fall semester. Masks/face coverings will be required for
      all students in 1  through 12  grade. All students will continue to be required to carry a clear or

      mesh backpack.

      GPISD will provide school supplies for students, with the exception of notebooks/binders, paper,
      pens and pencils. Teachers may require additional supplies for specific classes.


      Free Meals Program
      Galena Park I.S.D. will offer meal service for students
      beginning September 8, 2020. The Galena Park I.S.D.
      Transportation Department has teamed up with Student
      Nutrition to distribute meals to students at various locations
      around the District. In addition to the new bus delivery
      system, GPISD will continue to offer curbside service to pick
      up meals.


      Meal distribution dates, times and locations will be posted
      on the Galena Park I.S.D. website and social media
      platforms.

      SELF-ASSESSMENT

      In the last 24 hours, has your child experienced
      any of the following symptoms?

        •  Fever of 100.0 or higher, possibly with alternating shivering
           and sweating
        •  Diarrhea
        •  New cough

        •  New trouble breathing, shortness of breath or wheezing
        •  New chills
        •  New muscle aches or sore throat
        •  New loss of smell
        •  New loss of taste or change in taste


      IF you answered YES to any of the above, your child
      may NOT enter the building today.


      Parents should call our District Student Reporting Line at 832-386-1091 if your child:
          •  is lab-confirmed for COVID-19
          •  has been exposed to someone lab-confirmed for COVID-19
          •  is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
