DEVELOPING PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS

haracter Education is an important part of the curriculum in Galena Park I.S.D.(GPISD). Our
Character Education program is designed to help students become productive citizens and
lifelong learners. Each month, a different trait is featured as the focus for students to study, utilizing
Cactivities to incorporate into their daily lives.

Throughout the students’ time in GPISD schools, they are provided many opportunities to get involved
on campus where they can continue to build on the core values of Character Education. Students
can expand on these same principles outside the classroom by joining clubs and organizations, and by
participating in extracurricular activities.

One opportunity provided to the young men at Williamson Elementary is the annual Male Summit. During
the Summit, male community leaders come to speak about their careers and the importance of being a
positive role model on campus, as well as in the community.
