DELIVERING INNOVATIVE GRANTS
n October 29, the Galena Park I.S.D. (GPISD)
Education Foundation Prize Posse boarded a GPISD
school bus on a mission to deliver innovative teaching
grants to unsuspecting educators at campuses
O throughout the district.
Earlier in the year, educators across the district had the
opportunity to apply for grants to fund innovative instruction
for their classrooms, departments or campuses. The Education
Foundation Grants Selection Committee carefully considered
each application and selected this year’s recipients.
Ten grants totaling over $27,800 were awarded at six GPISD Carmen Guereque & Kendra Walker
campuses. The grants will be used to fund educational resources Galena Park High School
ranging from 3D models to helping students with cursive writing to
the Early Act First Knight Character Education program. This year’s
grants were all increased by $1,100, thanks to partnerships with
Chevron, DonorsChoose and Acorn.
