In 2017, Share Tables was introduced in Galena Park
I.S.D. schools. Through this initiative, students may
drop off unopened food and drinks on the “sharing
table,” and other students may help themselves to
the available food and drinks from the table.

The Houston Food Bank also partners with GPISD
to feed students through various programs. The
Backpack Buddies program provides students with
food sacks every Friday to take home to have food
to eat over the weekend. Houston Food Bank’s
Kids’ Cafe program provides fresh, healthy and
warm meals to after-school programs, including our
high school football programs at Galena Park High
School and North Shore Senior High School.

The Houston Food Bank also partners with some
of our schools to offer Farmer’s Markets to their

and nutrition needs, and looks forward to continuing
these valuable partnerships in order to feed the
minds, bodies and souls of all our students.
