MUSTANG LEGACY CONTINUES
he legacy of the North Shore Senior High School Mustang football program continues to grow.
On December 21, the Mustangs secured the 6A Division I State Championship for the second
year in a row in a highly anticipated rematch against the Duncanville Panthers, witnessed by
a crowd of 47,818 spectators at AT&T Stadium. The Mustangs prevailed as Back-to-Back State
T Champions with a score of 31-17 against the Panthers.
Junior quarterback Dematrius Davis won his second consecutive Most Valuable Offensive Player award
and senior outside linebacker Corey Flagg was selected as Most Valuable Defensive Player.
North Shore has risen to become a major football powerhouse in the state of Texas and in national polls
as well. Since 2014, when Jon Kay was named head coach, the Mustangs have achieved state titles in
2015, 2018 and 2019.
Galena Park I.S.D. will honor the excellent achievement of our players, coaches and support staff by
hosting a community pep rally on Saturday, February 1 at 3:00 p.m. at the Galena Park I.S.D. Stadium. The
celebration will include our Mustang band, Scarlets and cheerleaders. Please join us as we recognize our
Back-to-Back State Champions.
