3.3 EXAMPLES OF RECOGNITION RECEIVED FOR EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE
Excellence in all, for all, by all. Those are words Galena Park ISD strives to instill in our students. The
Board Trustees are enthusiastic cheerleaders for the District’s students and staff. Their accomplishments
of our students, teachers, and administrators are an outstanding reflection of the Board’s unwavering
support. One of the most cherished honors Galena Park ISD has recently garnered is recognition by
the Texas Association of Black School Educators (TABSE) as a Spotlight District. This recognition is
notable because it highlights the many ways our District serves students of all ethnic backgrounds and
educational levels, under the auspices of our dedicated Board of Trustees. TABSE’s acclaim for GPISD is
an illustration that the District truly strives for excellence in all, for all, and by all.
The tradition of excellence runs deep in Galena Park ISD, and none of the accolades listed below would
have been possible without the Board of Trustees’ heartfelt encouragement and commitment to fund
quality educational programming.
Galena Park ISD graduates of 2017 received $12,643,546 in scholarships this year. These scholarships
include academic scholarships, a football scholarship to LSU for $129,000, several PTA scholarships, and
numerous Education Foundation scholarships.
