01 FUNCTIONS AS A POLICY-MAKING BODY
1.2- EVALUATION TIME AND SUPPORT ALLOWED FOR NEW BOARD POLICIES PRIOR TO MAKING
JUDGMENTS AND ALTERATIONS
Setting policy is one of the most important duties of the Board of Trustees New board policies
and revisions are recommended to the Board by the superintendent and the administration
per policy BF (LOCAL) TASB updates are provided to the Board at least two weeks prior to
consideration on an agenda, which allows time for trustees to study the policy, ask questions,
reflect on the issue at hand, and consult with attorneys, if needed
Board trustees expect and value feedback from experts in the field, so Board workshops are
held prior to monthly board meetings, at which time district administrators present reports on
board action items The Board also receives timely information and feedback from attorneys,
architects and consultants Special meetings are also scheduled throughout the year as
needed, and the Board devotes countless hours to preparing for meetings and workshops
Any time major policy changes are considered, the Board conducts extensive research
and seeks input from stakeholders Decisions are made with the students, the staff, and the
community in mind Doing what is best for stakeholders is a responsibility the Board takes very
seriously
