Excited Educators Receive Rewards
The Galena Park ISD Education Foundation
Prize Posse was on a mission to deliver
innovative teaching grants to unsuspecting
educators at various campuses throughout
the district this past fall.
Earlier in the year, GPISD educators had
the opportunity to apply for grants to fund
innovative instructional resources for their
classrooms, departments, or campuses.
The Education Foundation Grant Selection
Committee carefully considered each
application and selected this year’s
recipients. Thirteen grants totaling over
$38,600 were awarded to educators across
14 GPISD campuses. Galena Park Elementary School
The Education Foundation was created in 1998 by Dr. Shirley J. Neeley, former GPISD
Superintendent of Schools and Texas Commissioner of Education, to provide funds for
educational programs and activities not traditionally funded by the normal operating budget.
These funds provide scholarships for students, educational grants, and expand community
involvement. Every donation to the Education Foundation counts towards the betterment of
education for the students of Galena Park ISD.
