Students must feel safe in order to reach their fullest potential, just as an artist must have
a brush and a palette to create any work of art. For this reason, the safety of students
and staff has always been Galena Park ISD’s number one priority. To this end, in June
2022, the Galena Park ISD board unanimously approved the hiring of 19 additional
Harris County Precinct 2 and Precinct 3 officers to patrol district campuses and daycare
facilities. In addition, protocols are continually being evaluated to ensure our staff
implements best practices for students.

For students to thrive throughout their academic pursuits,
GPISD’s community health initiatives ensure student care
and enhance campus wellness. Because community health
is a collective concern, the Student Health Advisory Council
(SHAC) is a coordinated effort supported by GPISD’s Board
of Trustees. SHAC educates parents, teachers, staff, and
community members about the district’s wellness plan, health
education instruction, and other health topics impacting our
community.
GPISD understands the importance of students throughout
their campus communities; therefore, halogen diagnostic
otoscopes, spot vision screeners, OAE hearing screeners, smart
weight analyzers, and spot vital signs devices with rolling stands
are readily available at each campus.
