03 SUPPORT FOR EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN ACCORDANCE

WITH STATE-ESTABLISHED STANDARDS

IBC Certifications
Trustees have played a critical role in the district’s year-over-year increase in industry-based
certification (IBC) attainment� Their commitment to workforce readiness is evident through
strategic investment—allocating nearly $85,000 in the 2023-2024 school year alone toward
certification materials, testing fees, and teacher training� The Board’s support ensures that
all students, regardless of campus or background, have equitable access to career-aligned
credentials� Their leadership has directly contributed to a consistent rise in IBCs earned,
positioning graduates for success in both college and the workforce�

English as Second Language (ESL) Certification Fees
GPISD offers a reimbursement to all teachers who
successfully pass the ESL Supplemental #154 Exam
and provide proof of adding the supplement to
SBEC� All teachers, with the exception of English
Language Arts (ELA), are reimbursed for the cost
of the exam and adding the endorsement to their
certificate through SBEC�

In an effort to increase the number of certified
ELA teachers who also have the ESL endorsement,
GPISD offers a one time $500 stipend� The ESL
certification is also an eligibility requirement to be
considered for Teachers Incentive Allotment (TIA) in
Galena Park ISD�
