H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards
The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards recognizes top educators and school districts�

Galena Park ISD is proud of the following H-E-B recognitions:
• Galena Park ISD was the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award for large district in May
2024�
• Counselor Roxanne McCabe, First HEB Excellence in Education Counselor of the Year
• Michelle Cavazos / Chris Eckford- principal finalists
• Charlene Macawili- state finalist

GPISD’s cutting-edge curriculum and instruction include our STEM and Fine Arts Academies
and other programs centrally focused on the arts, which contributed to our distinction of
being named a Best Communities for Music Education district and a Texas Art Education
Association District of Distinction for two consecutive years�

While there are many more accolades for GPISD staff than those mentioned, it’s safe to say
that the GPISD school community is dedicated to sustaining the legacy�
