05 COMMITMENT TO A CODE OF ETHICS

5.2-EVIDENCE OF ETHICAL PRACTICES ADHERED TO IN DEALING WITH THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF
BOTH COLLECTIVELY AND INDIVIDUALLY

With the understanding that their authority as elected members of the Galena Park ISD
Board of Trustees is strictly governed by district policy through parliamentary procedure, the
Board entrusts the superintendent, Dr� John C� Moore, with the day-to-day operations of the
District� As active trustees of the Galena Park community, the Board often finds themselves
engaged with constituents in conversation regarding district practices� Always keeping
the District’s mission and goals paramount, and having a student first approach, personal
agendas are never promoted, and all stakeholders are encouraged to address any and
all complaints in accordance with appropriate district policies� Board trustees go above
and beyond to be visible, approachable, and to encourage all stakeholders to solve any
concerns at the lowest level with the appropriate district administrator�

In addition to several legal policies, the Board has adopted the following local policies
addressing concerns from parents, students, stakeholders and community members� All
dismissal procedures and grievance hearings are conducted according to these policies,
and all concerns are addressed in a timely manner�
