        PLANS

On May 4, 2024, the Galena Park Independent School District, under the Board’s direction,
achieved a significant milestone in its commitment to education through the successful
approval of a $530,010,000 school bond package This decision, supported by a resounding
vote from the community, marks a transformative moment for the district, aiming to address
the critical needs of its schools and students While many bond elections in Texas are failing,
GPISD voters supported educational upgrades in this community showcasing how well-
respected and trusted the Board members are in Galena Park ISD

This bond package is a testament to the Board’s dedication to enhancing educational
opportunities and ensuring all students have access to the resources they need Board
members were very active in the Bond 2024 process Trustees Norma Hernandez, Linda Clark
Sherrard, and Jose Jimenez were members of the Long-Range Planning Committee, while
Trustees Noe Esparza, Linda Clark Sherrard, and Jose Jimenez were actively involved with the
Construction Committee and in the bidding process to choose the Architects / Engineers /
Professional Services and the Project Manager for Services

Bond funds are allocated to various essential projects, including the construction of new
facilities, renovation of existing structures, and upgrades to technology and educational
resources By enhancing the physical learning environment, GPISD aims to foster a space
where students can thrive academically and socially

Furthermore, improved facilities and resources can improve academic performance, as
students benefit from modern amenities and updated technology The passage of this
$530,010,000 school bond package represents a significant accomplishment for the Galena
Park Independent School District and its supporters This bond sets a precedent for how
strategic investments in education can lead to lasting benefits for students and the district
As Dr John Moore, Superintendent of Schools, stated, “This is the community’s bond When
the community voted on the 2024 Bond, they did not simply decide on a financial measure,
they invested in a legacy of academic excellence that will benefit students for years to
        come”
