7.1-ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIPS AND PARTICIPATION

Galena Park is a very diverse district with a large number of economically disadvantaged
students� The Board maintains active membership in a number of organizations that address
issues relevant to the student population we serve� These organizations offer numerous
conferences and educational opportunities in which the Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees
participate throughout the year�

Currently they are active members in the following organizations:

• National School Board Association (NSBA);
• Texas Association of School Boards (TASB);
• Gulf Coast Area Association of School Boards (GCAASB);
• Mexican American School Board Association (MASBA);
• Summer Leadership Institute (SLI) and

• Galena Park Education Foundation�
