Creating a House of Codes




               nited States House Representative Sylvia Garcia named Luis Guzman and Antorio
               Marius, Galena Park Middle School students, as the winners of the 2021 Congressional
       UApp Challenge in the 29  District of Texas (TX-29).

       Luis and Antorio developed an app called Political Problems to help
       students learn about various forms of government. They were invited
       to attend #HouseOfCode – a national science fair held in the
       U.S. Capitol this spring to see their apps displayed and have the
       opportunity to connect with other winners from around the country.


       The Congressional App Challenge is an official
       initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives.

       respective districts for middle school and
       high school students, encouraging them
       to learn computer programming code
       and to inspire students to pursue careers in
       computer science.

       Celebrating Hard Work



               alena Park ISD’s Technology Department hosted
               the Annual Multimedia Contest, previously known
       Gas the Multimedia Festival, on Thursday, March 24 .

       Students in grades K-12  celebrated their hard work and
                                  th
       accomplishments by showing off their projects.

       At the culmination of the contest, medals were presented
       to students for their excellent performance in the following
       multimedia project categories: Coding, Graphic Design, 3D
       Digital Modeling, Media in Motion and Team Event.                                           Giuliana Longoria

       This year, the Superintendent Award was added to the list of awards given to students
                                               who participated in the contest. The top projects that
                                               displayed the most creativity and the top projects from
                                               each category were sent to Dr. Moore to decide who
                                               would be receiving the first-ever Superintendent Award.
                                               The Elementary winner was Giuliana Longoria, 4  grader at

                                               MacArthur Elementary School and the Secondary winner
                                               was Lin Li, 10  grader at North Shore 10  Grade Center.
