Noche de Cuentos - A Night of Stories
North Shore Middle School proudly hosted
Noche de Cuentos, A Night of Stories, as part of
their Family Literacy Night. The staff began with
the basic yet essential idea of encouraging
their students to read. To promote interest in
reading, students and parents were invited to
the school, which had been transformed into
an immersive learning and reading experience.
Crafts, reading corners, face painting, book
give-aways, book mazes, and even walking
tours were a part of the evening. Woodland
Acres Middle School Principal, Juan Ramirez,
attended the event and said, “this was an
awesome idea and a great way to inspire
kids to read, become more comfortable with
books, and definitely bring the community

together to enjoy a night of literacy!”
Noche de Cuentos was developed in 2010, by the American Library Association, to encourage
families of ethnically diverse communities to read and learn together. North Shore Middle School
is committed to supporting the Association’s literacy mission through classroom instruction,
literacy challenges and events such as Noche de Cuentos.
