Life After High School
The Galena Park ISD College Readiness and
Advanced Academics Department hosted the
annual fall College Night to help students and
parents prepare for college and life after high
school. It’s never too early to begin gathering
information and creating a step-by-step plan for
postsecondary success. Over 300 elementary,
middle, and high school students took
advantage of the opportunity to jump-start their
college and career planning.
Approximately 50 college, university, military,
and CTE representatives provided insight on
future college and career paths. There were
workshops that included an informational 411 Representative Shares Exciting Career Pathways
session for student athletes, scholarship submission tips, and Testing 101–All You Need to Know
About Testing: ACT, SAT, TSIA2.
This event provided students with the knowledge they need to be prepared for higher education
or a skilled profession after high school. When students are informed, they understand the
relationship between academics, career and education planning. To learn more about college,
career and scholarship opportunities, please visit the Galena Park ISD Counseling and Guidance
Department’s webpage at https://www.galenaparkisd.com/domain/3454.
