Paying It Forward: Alumni Spotlight

Galena Park ISD is introducing a new format to
highlight the accomplishments of our former students.
A new video series, Alumni Spotlight, will be released
twice a year and delve into life after graduation from
CTE Early College, Galena Park or North Shore High
School.

In our initial video, Martina Lemond Dixon, North
Shore High School graduate, shares the story of her
family’s history in GPISD schools and their deep roots
in the Galena Park community. Martina, a proud
graduate who has made it a personal mission to “Pay
It Forward”, was inspired by her former teachers in
Galena Park ISD to choose education as her career
Martina Lemond Dixon path.

Mrs. Dixon began her teaching career at North Shore Senior High School and quickly became
an inspiration to her students. In 2006, she moved to Abu Dhabi with her family and transitioned
to a new career. Shortly after arriving in her new homeland, she built upon her passion for
education as a leader of an educational committee. After returning to the United States, Ms.
Dixon campaigned and was elected as a trustee for the Humble ISD School Board. To this day
she continues to be a champion for public education and the mission to “Pay It Forward” is alive
and well in her daily life.
