The Advanced Academics Department is committed
to providing access to higher education. The
department works closely with campuses and other
departments to create and maintain a college-
going culture throughout the district. GPISD offers
students valuable opportunities to get a head start on
their college or career pathway through numerous
programs and opportunities including:
• Enrichment experiences such as National
Elementary Honor Society, National Junior Honor
Society, Duke TIP, Pentathlon, Decathlon and Robotics Competition
many UIL academic competitions;
• Dual Credit and Advanced Placement (AP)
classes, the MECA program and our CTE Early
College High School; and
• Access to numerous programs lead to industry
certifications in fields such as maritime, diesel
mechanics, pharmacy technician and pipe fitting,
to name a few.
