        4.6-EVIDENCE OF LONG-TERM PLANNING FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT


        Not too many years ago, Galena Park ISD was secure with its framework to support the mission
        to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners� However, over the
        past few years the educational landscape that had become comfortably familiar ceased to
        exist�


        As a Board, Galena Park ISD trustees recognized the changes and uncertainty in the world of
        education required thoughtful planning to ensure goals were relevant and supported the
        District’s mission through a new lens, reflected the current circumstances, and met the growing
        needs of our community�

        This desire compels the trustees to participate in the strategic planning process each school
        year� Annually, surveys are sent electronically and meetings conducted with a wide variety
        of stakeholders including students, parents, staff, board trustees, local organizations, business
        owners, and community members� District leaders meet with these groups to discuss pressing
        issues, solutions, and action plans� The exchange of honest and respectful ideas, as well as
        sincere critique, allows GPISD to cull programs and processes that no longer resonate with
        stakeholders or serve a purpose� Board members are always determined to use information
        given with the mindset of becoming better stewards and, most importantly, ensuring students
        the best, most well-rounded foundation for success�


                                                        It is no longer enough to educate the students in
                                                        the school, GPISD needs to take care of its kids, its
                                                        employees, and its community� The educational
                                                        philosophy of educating the whole child takes on
                                                        a much broader meaning for the Galena Park ISD
                                                        Board of Trustees�

                                                        Through the recent strategic planning process, the
                                                        priority goals and performance objectives identified
                                                        for the 2024-2025 school year are:

                                                        Collaboratively, the Board and district leaders
                                                        establish a clear roadmap to future success
                                                        Performance Indicator (KPI) Dashboard� The KPI
                                                        dashboard, which displays performance and
                                                        measurement data on predetermined indicators,
                                                        ensures a transparent accounting of how the district
                                                        is performing on the identified goals and objectives
                                                        throughout the year� The dashboard allows school
                                                        personnel to share progress and challenges in real-
                                                        time, allowing the board to be incredibly responsive
                                                        to the District’s needs� This transparency is critical to
                                                        our success as a school district� Through strategic
                                                        planning and oversight, the trustees ensure that
