        Classlink Contest
Galena Park ISD students also have the opportunity
to participate in an annual Classlink Contest

Students’ entries are digitally drawn on a
Chromebook, desktop,or iPad, and winning designs
are showcased on the login page for Classlink, the
District’s site for employee and student access to
District applications There are four winners each
year, one for each 9 week grading period

        Superintendent Advisory Board
The District’s relationship with students is the foundation of GPISD’s legacy Therefore,
students are front and center in district planning and decision making The
Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board offers students an opportunity to share their
opinions, concerns, and perspectives with the Superintendent of Schools, Dr John
Moore Such an influence on decision making fosters leadership skills and reinforces the
importance of civic engagement This group personifies the district’s charge to lead, learn,
        and serve

Future Doctors Camp is a summer day camp that hosts thirty incoming ninth and tenth
graders interested in a healthcare career The program was founded by Dr Jonathan
Zalamea, a North Shore Senior High School alumnus, who wanted to provide students with
a pathway to the medical field The week-long camp consists of an overview of anatomy,
physiology, and pathology taught by medical students The camp also provides an in-
depth look into the various aspects of the healthcare field and information on attaining
        professional goals

        Student Extracurricular Opportunities
The Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees provides students with not only academic and
safety basics but also opportunities to explore their interests deeply and express themselves
culturally and artistically through an extensive variety of extracurricular activities that foster
the development of social skills, leadership qualities, and time management abilities
They believe extracurricular activities not only help students enhance their academic
performance, but develop valuable life skills, and gain experience in areas they may not
        otherwise navigate

Through strategic planning, the Board has identified a goal to “provide a wide range
of student opportunities” and to “increase the participation rates in student clubs,
enrichment activities, and extracurricular opportunities” Due to this encouragement and
support, Galena Park ISD has consistently increased both the number of
opportunities and the quality of the activities, as well
                                                                                                  BUILDING ON A
                                                                                                 LEGACY
