CTE offers six Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) that CTE students can join
and compete in as a CTE extracurricular activity� The Board supports our Career & Technical
Student Organizations (CTSO’s) by allotting extra funds to send students to numerous
competitions� These contests provide students with an engaging opportunity to compete with
their peers at the district, state and national level promoting leadership, career development,
and self-efficacy� This year, two students advanced at the 2025 Texas Future Business Leaders
of America (FBLA) Competition and will compete nationally in July 2025 in Anaheim, CA,
including one student who placed 1 in his respective competition at state� Over 30 students

advanced to and competed at their respective CTSOs’ statewide competitions in 2024-2025�
Galena Park High School National English Honor Society
The Roger Leslie chapter of the National English Honor Society is dedicated to both promoting
a love for English Language Arts and a sense of community for all who love language and
literature� In this honor society, students discuss books and other stories with each other� Along
with the chapter advisors, students find interesting ways to promote literature and language
in ways that are both exciting and helpful� Current plans for next school year include book
drives, book clubs, writing workshops, and poetry slams� The goal is to show the wider campus
community that English is more than just an EOC exam; it is a discipline that is multi-faceted
and engaging�
