Counselors Reinforcing Excellence
uring the April Board of Trustees
meeting, Galena Park ISD (GPISD)
Drecognized the North Shore Middle
School (NSMS) counseling team for earning
a Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for
Students in Texas (CREST) Award.
The CREST Award
is sponsored
by the Texas
School Counselor
Association
and is awarded
to counseling
programs that NSMS Counselors Honored at Board of Trustees Meeting
document their continuous improvement and commitment to
campus teams and programs aligned with the Texas Model for
Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, endorsed by the Texas Education Agency
(TEA). This team is the first school counseling team in GPISD to earn this prestigious honor. The
NSMS Counseling Team demonstrated excellence in classroom guidance, college and career
readiness, and social/emotional skills needed to be academically successful. Congratulations
to the NSMS Counseling Team; we are proud of this accomplishment and the work you do with
and for GPISD students!
In February, the NSMS Counseling Team traveled to Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, Texas to
receive their CREST Award.
