04         SUPPORT FOR EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND

               SCHOOL TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVES



        CTE Programming / Pathways / Elective Palooza
        The Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees has shown unwavering support for Career and
        Technical Education through the approval and advancement of long-range academic
        plans that prioritize student opportunity and workforce alignment� With 150 unique CTE
        courses across 20 programs of study, the Board has ensured a comprehensive and forward-
        thinking curriculum� Initiatives like Elective Palooza—a district-hosted event where every
        8th grader explores all CTE programs during an on-site field trip—reflect their commitment
        to early exposure and informed decision-making� Their leadership has also fostered strong
        partnerships with industry leaders, including SelecInstitute/Houston Freightliner,Harris Health
        Systems, HCAHealthcare, LyondellBasel, Turner Industries, and CenterPoint Energy, helping
        build a school-to-career pipeline for students� CenterPoint Energy alone has contributed
        $35,000 in resources over the past three years to help establish sustainable equipment
        lifecycle plans for welding programs across the district�























        Level Up
        Level Up is a new course approved for the 2024-2025 school year required for all 6th grade
        students� The implementation of this course completes a multiple-year initiative to double
        block Reading at the 6 -8  grades� The course leverages a program called Think CERCA and

        contains lessons on social emotional learning, career readiness, and generally making good
        choices as they enter the final four years of education in GPISD�


        Additionally, Galena Park ISD
        partners with San Jacinto College
        to offer students the opportunity to
        earn their credentials as a licensed
        barber� By bridging the gap between
        education and industry demands, we
        are empowering future generations
        to succeed in their chosen fields of
        study�
